POTUS mum on Kate

Ok we got that outa the way.  Are we still outraged that the prez hasn't shown enough outrage?

I believe we need to catapult them back across the border.

I never said I wasn't part of the problem.  We can cry until the government spends 500 gazillion dollars deporting them and then building a 900 ft tall wall to keep them out, but the second we have to pay some entitled American guy to re-shingle our roof we're gonna be singing the blues!

The government needs to step up and prevent us from having the option of luring cheap-o illegals here! Come on, government!

Why would we be angry with the people who encouraged the guy to stay when we can be angry with the guy who didn't publicly sympathize with family of the victim?

Why would we hold those accountable to any account when we can just use the death of a young woman to promote a political agenda?

Hey... it's cool.
I just enjoyed the irony, whether you intended it or not.
Heck, I'm pretty sure I've bought a falafel off of an illegal, or something.

Hey I work in the restaurant industry and I can tell you right now that a lot of peoples favorite places would be out of business without those brown skinned dudes.  Funny story though...one of the bus-boys that I worked with was a cop in Mexico City, super nice guy, and would trust him without a doubt, but I also wouldn't want to piss him off. LOL

I think I was being facetious.  My point is that on a daily basis we either benefit from, or directly employ these people that Donald Trump wants to label as a complete security risk when really they are mostly servants of our "gimmie more for less" culture.  We want our cheap restaurant service and cheap labor all while we say "Gee, the government really oughta do something about all these terrible people invading our country!"

My stance is for a tighter border and immediate deportation for anything over a misdemeanor, for those already here.
I have no trouble with anyone who is working hard and attempting to be a good addition to our society.
However, I am strictly against any form of welfare for anyone not legal, apart from emergency health care.
It's kind of like those that want gun control, Pandora's Box is already open, so we need a policy that works with population that is already here.
(yeah, that last sentence was a soft troll)

But you agree that he should have exercised restraint and told them he is not going to sensationlize their tradgedy for political gains?

Pretty sure he was spouting off about gun control before all members of the SC victims families were notified.

But Stlucie thinks we've paid enough, and they should be happy with their casinos. :snark:

Apart from a small slice of affirmative action, thinly walled trailers, and radioactive land, I fail to see much payment.
Regarding the casinos, as far as I am aware they are on Native land (which can change at any time), so any tax abatement is irrelevant.
But, as is within most societies, the already affluent within the tribes reaped the most benefit.
FWIW.... I'm only 1/8th, so I don't "qualify" for any government or Cherokee nation funds (not that I would apply).
It just troubles me that the percentage of blood is so stringent for Native Americans, but not so much for other minorities.

BLEAH !! Sorry for the tangent....just got a bit riled.
As suspected, this case has prompted investigations and a House vote by the GOP on sanctuary cities:

http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/21/politics/kate-steinle-sanctuary-cities-senate/index.html

Quote:San Francisco is one of a number of cities across the United States that calls itself a "Sanctuary City," which means it does not require its local officials to abide by federal immigration laws.
U.S. officials released more than 66,000 criminal immigrants between 2013-2014, said Sarah Saldana, director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, to the panel. However, she said, the agency does not release individuals "willy-nilly" and it is all according to federal law and professional discretion.

It does appear this is getting some bipartisan support; as Senator Feinstien, D-Calif. announced they were crafting legislation requiring ICE to be notified of release if requested.

Surprisingly not a whole lot of talk about pill use, it is mostly about immigration reform.

Well we already have a war on drugs.  Mellow

And the shooter was an illegal immigrant.

Have they started an investigation into how the shooter is SC got his gun?

Pretty sure they did and it was determined that an error in processing was made. The laws were in place that should have prevented him from receiving a weapon. Although, I have zero idea what that has to do with this thread.
