***Week 2 GameDay Thread - Bengals @ Browns***
Hes a rookie right now so he gets a pass. If he's still averaging 5ypa next season hes a bust. even rotoworld was saying 5.0 ypa is unacceptable.

Why does Zac Taylor even bother trying to hide how bad this offensive line is?

5.0 ypa is all that's currently attainable until some supporting cast either starts pulling weight or coaches / front office gets creative. Fact.

Ninja

That's extra absurd since I apparently spent the Dalton era pining for Carson Palmer.

In summation, as a few of us have said for a while, no matter who's under center....if ya can't block anyone, ya ain't gonna win many games. You're welcome.

While 5 ypa is bad, what else is he supposed to do? There wasn't time for plays to develop, the rbs had ypc 3 or under. He waits for longer developing plays he just gets hit and sacked more. Dont have the time for 5-7 step drop backs.

Well Burrow kept us within shouting distance, so I don't care how he did it...but yea that's pretty low.  I'm all for letting Burrow air it out and I realize we are only 2 games in, but he's on pace to smash the current "attempts in a season" record for a QB.

Weeeeeelllllll. He has missed an inordinate amount of deep passes in the 2 games. Passes that he was completing on the money last year.

Even with a clean pocket hes still not pushing the ball down the field. He either checks down short or overthrows long. Once is a anamoly twice now its starting to become a trend. It may be Zac's fault. Even Aikman was criticizing the checkdowns at the end of the game.

Burrow isn’t going to design the plays and run the routes. Nearly every time they showed receivers downfield they were always covered. It doesn’t help that Mike Brown has single handedly created a hatred for the franchise that short of Jesus coming back and playing QB for this team, they will never ever get the benefit of any calls. Two blatantly obvious defensive pass interferences in the last drive and under 2 minutes and not a thought went into making the calls.

That plus are deep threats we’re supposed to be Ross who’s an absolute bust and Green who looks like he’s a shell of himself.

...and who were the deep passes down the field misses mostly to? Could it be the guy who didn’t play in any of the scrimmages? Timing is still not quite there. The fact that he’s making the right read and throw and that other than distance the throws have been pretty spot on is a good sign. This is not the AJ that Dalton had where a throw in the vicinity was going to get caught by AJ.

AJ could have had 2TDs even with a bum shoulder had Burrow been accurate

Really? So Higgins getting hit in the end zone not being allowed to run his route and AJ having his arm grabbed before the ball got there doesn’t warrant DPI? Or how about last week where the Chargers receivers were pushing off all game and the refs call it against AJ who was being held.

While I don't think hes played bad at all, this has by far been the biggest disappointment with his game. Im hoping he just needs more time to adjust to the speed/ lack there of, of the wr core.

...and Burrow could have thrown 4 TDS had Boyd not dropped a sure TD.

Despite having the worst offensive line and defense in the NFL, Burrow had his team in position to win last week and if not for a BS reversal of Gio’s TD or Boyd’s drop could have easily won this game. This without a preseason and his #1 receiver during the scrimmages. His accuracy to guys with defenders draped all over him is the only reason this team had a chance in both games.

There were uncalled pi against both teams. WJ3 was very grabby. There were a few times they couldve rightfully called DPI on him.

Maybe Fred toast is right. We are getting junior year Burrow not senior year Burrow. If last season was fluke we as Bengal fans are screwed.
