Hey guys and gals, it's that time where we do the official Bengal board draft. Last year we used zoom and it was relatively quick and flawless. I think we did three or more rounds within a half hour or so. I would like to try discord draft this year if it means getting more people to participate. The Bengals board has a discord link I believe. If not we can go use zoom which for me is better but it doesn't matter what I would need from some of you. Your expertise is I need GMS and I would like for you to take an entire division if you're interested. Go over to the drafts sub thread and sign up. Please reps to anyone who participates

“We could, I guess, go wherever we wanted after this year if we didn’t pick the option up,” Blackburn said. “We’ll see. Like I said, all these things will be done in due course. We are having discussions, and so we’re hopeful that the county is thinking about it a lot, too, and wants to get it addressed in a way that would be beneficial to both of us.”

Is this a Cold War type of front Katie is putting up? On one hand, tax payers have committed a lot to the Bengals. On the other hand, I’d imagine another city (St. Louis?) would HAPPILY welcome the current iteration of the Bengals and the revenue it brings to the city.
You gotta say this about Katie, she handles everything in about the same manner.

You guys are more informed with the rules, but could we have tagged Hendrickson, if so why didn’t we tag him instead of Tee?

You only have to fix 1 guard spot to fix the oline |

I’ll obviously take 2 guards but the issue was both Volson and Cappa were boo boo. Teams could run stunts and get pass rush wins from both spots
If you get 1 good guard and sure up one side we can scheme to help the weaker guard and the line will be amazing
I am still not convinced the Bengals see Volson as a problem and i bet they think Peter’s can work with him and get him on track.
What are defenses gonna do? Run every blitz at our weaker guard? You do ANYTHING too many times in a game and it’ll become less effective. I could see a ton of 13 personnel where Perine is the back and Sample is the TE and we’re having both pass protect.

Are We Signing Brandon Scherff? |

SportingNews thinks we're going to sign Scherff, which would be HUGE and give me a lot of hope going into the draft and next season because I think we'd finally be able to offer Burrow some solid linemen to protect him and I have faith that Peters can coach our guys to be a solid unit.
Quote:In 2024, Scherff played in all 17 games for the Jaguars, and played all 1,013 of his snaps at right guard.
Scherff earned a 64.7 Pro Football Focus grade for his 2024 campaign. The guard excelled in pass protection, earning a 74.5 grade and not allowing a single sack. Scherff isn't as solid as a run-blocker, though, earning a 57.3 grade in that area.
However, Scherff's pass blocking prowess could fit perfectly in a pass-first offense like Cincinnati's. The Bengals also do have a major need at both guard spots this offseason, and Scherff is likely the best free agent option the team could get.
Alex Cappa, who started at right guard for the Bengals in 2024, was cut after a miserable season. Cody Ford was re-signed, and the veteran does have experience at both guard and tackle spots, but Ford struggled mightily in 2024.
The team would be wise to not rely on Ford to hold down a guard spot all season. The other guard currently penciled in to start is Cordell Volson, who has so far struggled in his NFL career.
Spotrac projects Scherff to land a one-year deal worth $6.7 million. Over the Cap has the Bengals sitting at around $26 million in cap space, so adding Scherff would be no problem from a financial standpoint.
He's 33 but he's still playing at a high level and Peters has already coached him, so there's familiarity there.
I have seen where the Ravens are also a possibility, but Peters has to be a draw and we have a lot more cap space than the murderers.
We'd still need to draft a guard and maybe sign another FA, but I think this boosts the likelihood for our success this season.
Anyone else want to bring him in?

Simple. You can add two of these players to the roster, the other two are out. Consider that these are at/near “peak” of their bengals career.
I tried picking players they are likely, or easy, upgrades at the respective position group and is a fairly obvious need/want still today.
NT Domata Peko
RG Bobbie Williams
LB Vontaz Burfict
S Reggie Nelson
I will see how this goes and throw out other hypotheticals if this gets legs. I am hoping this can just lighten the tense offseason threads, take us down memory lane and good old fashioned board discussion on fit, style, etc.

I just read this and learned a lot abour new LB Owen Burks. Heis not just good, but very good against the run. Bengals appear by moves to being fixing our pourous run defense. It will be intersting to see if Pratt is traded at some point or if Burks will be competing with him for starting position. Burks and Pratt appear to be 2 down LBers so we still need a LB for 3rd down it appears.
https://www.bengals.com/news/5-things-to-know-about-new-bengal-oren-burks
Not only does Burks have vast experience in the postseason, he rises to the occasion. He tallied 25 tackles in four postseason games last season with the Eagles, including nine in the Divisional Round against Offensive Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels and the Commanders.
Burks was drafted in the third round by the Green Bay Packers out of Vanderbilt in the 2018 NFL Draft.
The Bengals made a clear emphasis on shoring up the team's run defense this offseason between the additions of Burks and T.J. Slaton Jr. Burks recorded an 86.8 PFF run-defense grade last season, ranking 11th among all linebackers
I think we all have a tendacy to dismiss players signed to smaller contracts. The LB market has always been underpaid and also draft status is lower. Is a 3rd round LB the equivelent of a 2nd round CB for example? Maybe.
I hope Burks has an awesome year. It appears Bengals to have a defensive plan, it is to first to fix the run.

Best Bengal WR all time |

The other day Chad and TJ were on a pod and Chad Johnson says Chase.
TJ disagrees and says Chad should be a HOF and is the best all time Bengal WR of all time, but Chase is on his way.
Chad said he never had a triple crown, TJ says he was a top 5 receiver 5/7 years.
Chase already has the best 2 seasons in bengals history.
Thoughts?
