Jeremy Hill Says "Now Or Never" For The Team
Posted by: BFritz21 - 05-18-2015, 07:19 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (40)

This kid continues to impress me more and more. He's taking the "Now or Never" mentality into the season, even though it's only his second year:

Quote:Bengals second-year running back Jeremy Hill has only been there for the most recent playoff loss, but Hill is still taking a "now or never" attitude heading into the season. On Monday, Hill told ESPN's Coley Harvey that changes are needed in Cincinnati this season.

"It's been four years in a row and if it doesn't happen this year then it's probably never going to happen," Hill said. "That's the mentality and the sense of urgency that we bring in every day. Something has to change."

To me, that's just him saying that he knows that the team has the talent and he just wants them to have a sense of urgency to put it on the field so they can win as many rings as possible.

What spoke to me most about this article was how he then says that they need to get it done for the city, the team, Mike, and Marvin and the other coaches:

Quote:Hill called the lack of playoff success a "burden."

"For me, it's just a burden that we really need to get lifted from this city, from this team, from this ownership, from this coaching staff and for coach [Marvin] Lewis," Hill said. "It's something that everyone in this locker room really wants to do and it's just about us going out there and doing it. We can talk about it every day. We can say this and say that, but at the end of the day, we've just got to go out there and get it done."

As Hill put it, it's "now or never" for the Bengals this season.

That speaks volumes to him wanting to get the job done for EVERYONE BUT HIMSELF and says that he's going to come in and just be one of the top backs in the league and carry this team to victory. I always say that we would have won the playoff game if he hadn't gotten hurt, and this makes me believe that we'll have a deep playoff run coming this season.

By saying all this, he's taking a leadership role and saying "let's go get it done," which he'll be a top 5 (if not top 3) back in the league this year, and I don't know too many other running backs, especially ones that young, that take on that kind of leadership role.

Sounds amazing that there were "character concerns" with this kid coming out of college and then he throws out comments like that!

  Justin Smith retires

While most football fans will always picture him as a 49er, former Bengal Justin Smith decided to hang up his cleats today.

  stadium tour...
Posted by: jjvolt - 05-18-2015, 12:28 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (12)

Part of my being a bengals and nfl junkie is that I love the actual stadiums themselves (my latest thing is trying to replicate old nfl stadiums from the past in detail by using minecraft, this kinda helps me through the offseason). Anyway, my question is if anyone has done the PBS tour, and if so, is it extensive and comprehensive enough to make a 2hr plus drive worth it. Thanks.

Polian: Questioning Bengals playoff success "absurd"
Posted by: PlayerFormerlyKnownAsMousecop - 05-18-2015, 09:20 AM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (102)

http://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/nfl/bengals/2015/05/17/bengals-bill-polian/27479191/

This actually reminds me of a poll I posted back on the old message board, about whether or not it was necessarily relevant that the Bengals haven't won a playoff game in over 20 years.

Polian seems to agree with my opinion that being a consistent playoff contender is the most important step towards getting to and winning a Super Bowl.

Drafting for depth and building a powerful roster is the most effective way to build a team, IMHO. And with New England and Denver seemingly going through their own troubles with their quarterbacks and rosters our time may come sooner than later.

  Surprise cuts

Who do you think does not make the 53 man roster this year that may shock some people?

I'll go with Margus Hunt.

I think his age and lack of development and with MJ's return and the drafting of Hardison makes him a candidate.

Who do we keep after 2016?
Posted by: TommyBoy - 05-17-2015, 09:26 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (34)

I know this has been a discussion before but I was wondering who do we keep after this season? and who is gone? heres the list per ESPN.

Unrestricted*

WR Green,- No way he is gone if we dont sign him there is a serious reason

WR Mohamed Sanu - This one is a little tricky, I think he will be here with a small one year deal

WR Marvin Jones- Given his production before I think we keep him we have no other viable options at WR

OT Andre Smith- With the drafting of 2 OT's in the first round I think Oghbuei(SP) will take his spot

OT Whitworth- I dont know about him after his tweet, I know it was kind of tongue in cheek but we could possibly sign him to a one or 2 year deal, maybe to mentor the rookies. I wouldnt be upset if he goes, but I am a big fan of BigWhit

DE Wallace Gilberry- Hes probably gone if will clarke and Margus hunt show up

DT Brandon Thompson- He will prbably re-sign

LB Vincent Rey- Probably gone

LB Chris Carter- Probably gone, with dawson here

CB Hall- gone with dennard and kirkpatrick here

CB Adam Jones- see above

S Nelson- Maybe a one or two year deal

S Iloka- He will probably re-sign

Just my opinions on what is going to happen, what do you guys think? What are the projected spots we draft in the first and second round next year? what are our biggest need? Gimme some insight! (didnt list the restricted because they are pretty much PS players)
