It was said repeatedly throughout the contract drama in the preseason that Chase would never be cheaper than he was then. That's a fact, and now we are looking at the consequences of not extending him then and there. He's absolutely balling out right now. The offense, despite the team's record, is borderline elite. Maybe not so borderline. Burrow is peak Burrow.
The likelihood of Chase winning big after betting on himself is incredibly high right now. The team has no choice but to pay him what he wants, which is more than it was 5 weeks ago or have him hold out and show his ass.
This was a dumb move and will be judged as an unforced error by the organization. At the time, I thought Chase was being greedy, but the joke guarantees are not up to par with what a player of his caliber should expect.
He's stands to make a shit ton of cash while the Bengals have a horrific season during his peak productivity.
This was cap management malpractice in every way.

I was reading something after the Bengals bungled the Baltimore game away and it was referencing having to spend money for a franchise to have sustained success. They mentioned the Chiefs player development staff consisted of approx 25 people, and the Bengals.......six. The sad reality is that Mike Brown will never pay the amount of money it would take for the team to be continually successful. He's not going to hire a first class administration, he's not going to hire a top notch coach, and he's not going to sign star players unless they're already here.....like Burrow or Chase. He'll pay one or two guys, and then go cheap in other areas to make up for the hit. That's the way it has always been with this organization and I don't know why it would change as long as Brown owns the team. Someone stated on a game thread post that this organization is such that players go to Cincinnati, they end up there.
I have no expectations of there ever being a Lombardi Trophy on permanent display in Cincinnati as long as MB owns the team. On the bright side I guess I could have been a fan of Detroit instead.

I predict another lackluster game from the defense and the Giants win as rookie WR Nabers shreds this pathetic secondary and they make Daniel Jones look elite.
Giants: 35
Bengals: 33

The scheme is way too predictable and lacks anticipation of what the offense is trying to accomplish..We play far too much off coverage even when playing zone concepts we don't play physical with receivers at the los..
The blitz packages are waay to easy to diagnose and that's one of the reasons we continuously get carved up when sending the blitz..We don't use any simulated blitzes or overloads or anything that confuses protections instead we line up every defender ten yards off and send zero pressures which almost never works..
we have a very physical corner (josh Newton)Taylor made to face a receiving core like the ravens and he spends most of the game on the bench smh..These corners lose on any inside breaking route with regularly you'd think lou would get memo but he clearly doesn't..

He played guard and right tackle for Michigan, was a 7th round pick of the Patriots in 2022. Missed the 2022 season with a torn hamstring. Picked up by Atlanta from waivers in June.

With the season being a lost season. I will use the rest of the season to marvel at the greatness of Chase through 4 seasons He has 2nd most receptions ever. He already has passed his LSU teammate in Receptions and Yards and needs 4td's before end of season to have all 3. Chase is putting himself in the conversation for GOAT WR when his career is over.

Ian Rapport just tweeted the fear is Dax tore his ACL. It’s sucks thought Dax was playing well in coverage and can’t believe he actually made the transition to outside CB. Worst part is the following season is usally rough for a CB coming off an ACL then you at his option year.
