DC/OL wish list

I'll start it off:

A lot of buzz has surfaced about Al Golden (ex-Bengals linebacker coach) and Dennis Allen (ex-Saints coach).

What say you, brothers in Bengals Nation?  Cool

I wouldn't mind giving Robert Saleh a look. He had the 49ers D rollin as well as the Jets. I'm not interested in Golden personally.

He’s the best option I know of right now.

Curious to see other names as well but he would be a home run.

I’d give my left nut to get Zimmer back

No more just allowing 5 yard short passes

Actually blitzing more than twice a game and not having to have the worst defense for you to finally decide blitzing is ok to do in football.

Seems like Lou played super conservative which worked when we had Bates but he couldn’t adjust

I hope to god we don't get the nepotism hire and see Press Taylor as our run game coordinator.

WTF names a person Press?  It's a verb not a name.  Dude probably has all sorts of issues.

Saleh is also a minority. If poached for a HC job in future, NFL would give us a draft pick.

My top 3 after a lot of thought would be:

Saleh
Dennis Allen
Vrabel (Likely not an option)

2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

I would like Saleh myself. Would bring that physicality to the D. Frank says he would make our Defense undisciplined and dirty though lol

Eberflus or Dennis Allen would also be good DC's for us I am sure.

Cowboys D under Zim wasn't good this year, maybe the game has passed him by.

Saleh is a minority? Sure looks white to me?

Yeah, Vrabel is probably the Patriots HC next.

You think Zac would stand for that?

I don't, so maybe that is why Saleh wouldn't be a good fit. But as far as a defensive mind he is way ahead of Lou.

Saleh’s fiery personality would balance out Opie Taylor’s nicely. Tongue

Saleh is the least likely IMO.  He'd be a threat to Zac if things went south.

I  believe  Zac is coaching for his job next year.  If he has an ounce of input in the hire, it won't be anyone that could usurp him after a rocky start.

Interesting, as Jim and Pat were talking about Jerry maybe having interest in keeping McCarthy around. They went on to say that the Cowboys had exclusive negotiating rights until after some date later this month.

Yeah, I heard McCarthy was going to be back with the Cowboys is what I heard.

Really, what makes you say that?

Have you read any rumors saying that?

Minority hire is nice if it happens, but choice for the job shouldn't be based solely upon that idea.

Yeah, like Zac would want a potential mutiny on is hands??

I agree with that, as well.

To the folks thinking that Saleh would somehow come in and resurrect things with mostly current personnel (I mean the Bengals don't have the cash to fund a rebuild to 3-4 personnel); What exactly would a Robert Saleh 4-3 defense look like? Where would he find all of those extra pass rushers?

Personally, my hopes are that the Bengals go with a guy like Allen or Martindale.

No, they would not. The team LOSING the minority coach/FO gets a compensatory pick. Hence the word, compensatory. The hiring team gets nothing in terms of picks.

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/nfl-compensatory-picks-for-minority-coaches-and-executives-explained

The Jets would get nothing in this case because he is not with them anymore.

My personal fav for DC is Wink Matendale (DC/MICH). And he can bring Kenneth Grant with him.
Martindale was kind of shown the door in Baltimore if you remember. They're defense was kind of the walking wounded at the time, but still...
