Notes From Training Camp 2025

Nice hit by Knight, but that was on my other favorite rookie Tahj Brooks, not Chase Brown as they said. Happy to hear Murphy is having
a good camp, he is the guy I really want to see show up this year. Last year was really disappointing for him and the guys that backed him
up. I figured Ossai would have a good camp for sure.

Iosivas could be the most improved player on Offense this year. I think it was Chase Brown last year for us.

What if it’s Joe burrow… or Jamar Chase? Watch out!

Good to hear he has improved on those contested catches.  That was the criticism most people had about his game.

That would be crazy after the years they both just had.

They play about the same or just a little better and they are both the best at their position this year by far.

Yep, they worked their ass off last year and both improved a ton at catching the ball with their hands. Chase Brown improved at multiple
things and became a willing pass protector as well which is why I think he was the most improved player on our team last year.

Is it me, or do we see more teaching and coaching in TC than in the past? Peters telling Fairchild to not be a meathead and college to pros is like playing checkers versus checks. Montgomery teaching technique.

I try to never get to hyped over the TC hype, but listening to Burrow at PC today praise Yoshi and the WR room gives me hope. I am glad Trey is in camp, now they need to get him signed. JB was glad he is here. It was good to see Trey helping Stewart and others.

We need a RB to add in coming days to replace Moss at camp at a minimum. I still holdout hope we are looking at Hernandez or Risner. If not, maybe an OL cut at end of preseason. But we have a new OL coach, so if he is not in panic mode, maybe we should not be in panic mode.

I have concerns with interior OL and safety, but I think we have a shot at being very good with our current roster and if we have injuries early in the year, we have cap space to add more than just a replacement body.

Seems like I am seeing more coaching going on myself. Cannot get too hyped yet, for damn sure. All good news though, just need to get Trey
signed as you say and agree, bring in Hernandez and another RB. BTW, do we still have the RB from Georgia on our PS?

I think we have him in camp. Good point. We may have our RB in house.

Edit: no rookie from Georgia, we have a 2nd year guy Milton from Georgia and a rookie from Arizona

some of the biggest complaints we had about last year's team and coaches was the lack of growth in our young players and mistakes in the basics of football..like tackling...so count me happy they are spending a lot of time on teaching and coaching.

There are 6 RBs on the roster including 2 who were on last year's PS.  I don't think they will be in hurry to replace Moss just for TC

It looked River held Stewart in that clip. But good news is Rivers seemed to absorb Stewart's power and nor get knocked off balance

I think we need to add another Guard and a DT that can pressure the QB.  Im fine with Fairchild as the starting LG but if you are going that route, you need to bring in a proven RG like Hernandez.  You cant have a rookie starting at LG then a question mark at RG.   Patrick is out there limping around and Cody Ford right now is the starting RG.  That is a recipe for disaster.

As far as defense, we got little pressure from the interior of the defensive line last year.  We cant have a repeat of that this year with opposing QBs having all day long to throw the ball.  We have the same guys back plus Slaton who isnt a pass rusher.  Are we really counting on Jenkins and Jackson to make some big jump to provide a pass rush from the interior?  That is expecting a lot from 2nd year DTs that werent that great in college rushing the QB and not that great their 1st year in the pros.  Now all of a sudden in the 2nd season they will give you an interior pass rush?  Realistically, I dont see it happening.

I was just looking at our cap dead money. We have 4 players who started game 1 in 2024 on the list with around 8.5 million in dead cap. When is the last time the FO cut 4 starters who were under contract? My guess is never so FO is showing small signs of change.

Three of the 4 are on another team with only Moss who was cut today not yet.

Yeah, Kendall Milton from Georgia was the RB I was talking about, the rookie from Zona might also be decent. I always thought Milton was good.

Our RB room is pretty good this year with all these guys IMO. Been a while since I was happy with our RB room.

Most of the guys on the team aren't multi-millionaires. They make right at $1 mil per a year. Taxes take a big chunk and are out of the league after 3/4 years.

They can still go broke if someone gets sick and need regular jobs after football.

But by all means, keep defending the 3rd wealthiest man in Ohio.

Brown, Perine, & Brooks.

Milton (PS last year, some time on 53), Brightwell (Future's contract), and Quale Conley, and UDFA.

That is the RB room. I'd be shocked if we carry more than 3 on the 53. Coukd take 2 on the PS, though.

We will see how well Tahj and these guys play ST's. Trayveon WAS a pretty good ST'er, but as far as a RB I would take all of these guys over him.

What OBjr (Sooner) vs Ossai (Longhorn) in a tussle? It ain’t their first scrap.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.
