He never adjusted his scheme to the personnel all season long including today's game..instead of playing more shell two high coverage he constantly wants to go single high cover 3..Lou is very stubborn, he keeps having sample and Hubbard rushing from right end,instead of giving Murphy and ossia some of those reps at rde..cam sample gives us absolutely nothing same thing with Zac Carter why is starting??
The secondary cannot play off coverage or press man effectively, so I can't blame Lou there..going forward I honestly don't know how this gets fixed we're just no physical enough or fast enough up front to be a consistent defense..Third down has become an absolute nightmare no matter what the down and distance is, I do want to say that I am a Lou supporter and I really do have faith that he'll get this fixed..The linebackers need to truly get better in the off-season they regressed alot this season..
The saddest part of it all is that we've put waaaaaaaaaayy to much draft capital into the defensive side of the ball to be as bad as we are this year..how much more draft capital do we have to invest on the defensive side of the ball?? We should be able to fix the interior thru free agency, I'm truly hoping for another pass rusher to help out Hendrickson, preferably a speed rusher in the Khalil mack, von miller type mold..I'm truly sick of the prototypical 6"6 slow pass rusher that we always seem to go after..

For those fans who can't afford to go to a Bengals game, consider the Browns game next week. Prices have severely dropped after the Bengals were eliminated from the playoffs and the Browns are locked in to the #5 seed. It would still be a great experience to see a game live. Weather permitting, could be a fun time.

Without the injuries the Bengals could of been looking to make it back to the Super Bowl.... I think it's clear how the AFC turned out that it was in the cards...
Defense clearly has issues the secondary can't cover anyone and outside of Hendrickson we aren't getting to the QB.
Thanks everyone for making this year on the board a great one despite the heart aches.
Next year the Bengals will regroup and make a run at it.
Enjoy another cold one together.

The browns and ravens are the best of the afc right now. Our record against both teams is abysmal over the last several seasons and under Zac Taylor.
The bengals are built to pass the ball and play opportunistic bend but don’t brake defense.
The browns and ravens are built to play smothering defense, run the ball, and pass off their running game. In other words, AFC north football.
I see the browns and ravens as the top teams in the afc right now. Browns might be the only team that can beat the ravens.
When we play the browns, we drop back and pass and get eaten alive from the pass rush. Against the ravens we struggle to run the ball.
The key to win these games next year is defense and establishing the run game. Zac gives up on the run in these games.
Bengals also struggle to stop the run in these games.
How can we adjust next year to beat these teams?
If the bengals want to make noise next year, they will need to get past afc north opponents.
Is there another formula other than defense and running game? It seems like Zac thinks so, but the results haven’t been there other than two seasons of decent success.
How can we improve? What’s the formula to sweep the north?

Okay, after consuming a lot of holiday food and a considerable quantity of holiday spirits, I set out to determine the paths that will get our beloved Bengals into the playoffs. I might be drunk and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night but, by gosh, I knew that all of that money mom and dad spent on a mathematics degree would pay off someday. Here goes:
The clearest path is to win out. If we win out , we get in the playoffs if any of the following five scenarios happen:
1. A Jags loss AND a Steelers loss ;
2. A Texans loss AND a Steelers loss;
3. A Bills loss AND a Steelers loss ;
4. A Bills loss AND a Jags loss ;
5. A Bills loss , a Colts loss, AND a Texans loss
If we lose to the Chiefs and beat the Browns, we get in the playoffs under any of the following eight scenarios(note that five of these eight require the Bills to lose out) :
1. Steelers lose out , EXACTLY ONE Jags win(must go 1-1) , a Raiders loss , AND a Broncos loss [Easiest path of these eight , imo]
2. Steelers lose out , Jags win out , Texans lose to Titans and win over Colts , a Raiders loss , AND a Broncos loss [Next easiest, imo]
3. Steelers lose out , Jags win out , Texans win over Titans and lose to Colts, Raiders win over Colts , a Broncos loss , AND Bills lose out
4. Steelers lose out , Texans lose out, Bills lose out , AND a Broncos loss
5. Steelers lose out , Texans win out , Bills lose out
6. Steelers lose out, Jags lose out , Texans win out OR lose out , a Raiders loss, AND a Broncos loss
7. Steelers lose out , Jags lose out , Bills lose out , a Raiders loss, AND a Broncos loss
8. Steelers lose out , Bills lose out , a Raiders loss AND a Broncos loss , AND either a Jags , Texans, or Colts loss
NOTE: There are ways we can get in by losing to the Chiefs , without the Steelers losing twice, but ALL of those scenarios require TWO Bills losses , among other things. For example, TWO Bills losses, TWO Steelers wins, EXACTLY ONE Jags win , a Raiders loss, AND a Broncos loss would get us in . I doubt the Bill lose to the Pats AND the Steelers beat the Ravens, so this scenario is very unlikely, imo. Scenarios where the Steelers win one of their last two also require the Bills losing out but are just as unlikely, or maybe more unlikely , than the scenario above where the Steelers win their two games. Hence, I'll disregard those since the likelihood of occurrence is negligible and since I have to take my cat to the vet.
In conclusion, if we win out , we are very likely gonna be in the playoffs . If we lose to the Chiefs and beat the Browns, our best chances for getting in will be scenario #1 or #2 listed above.
We can get in the playoffs by beating the Chiefs and losing to the Browns, as well, but let's don't cross that bridge until we see we have our win at Arrowhead!
Have a happy and blessed 2024!!!
