The next three weeks will probably determine the division
Posted by: Brownshoe - 11-06-2023, 11:40 AM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (30)

In the next three weeks there will be huge games in the AFCN.

Bengals vs Baltimore + Pittsburgh
Browns vs Baltimore + Pittsburgh
Ravens vs Bengals + Browns
Pittsburgh vs Bengals + Browns

Whoever comes out on top in the next 3 weeks probably wins the division. I'm hoping that the Browns and Ravens beat each other up next week so we have a better chance at beating the Ravens. Houston won't be a pushover either. The next 3 weeks will most likely determine if we have a home playoff game or not (and possibly a BYE!). These will definitely be some exciting weeks with the potential of heartbreak. Let's hope our Bengals come out on top.

WTF is happening on 4th downs?
Posted by: WeezyBengal - 11-06-2023, 10:57 AM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (31)

Anyone else find the inconsistency on 4th downs maddening lol?

4th and 2 on the Buf 48 when the offense can't be stopped (and Joe is out there begging to go for it) - PUNT
4th and 5 on the Buf 37 - TURNOVER ON DOWNS
4th and goal on the 2 up 17-10 - FIELD GOAL (I dont know how this even really helps you)

I just don't see any logic or consistency behind these decisions? I feel like it's been this way most of the year.

ZT has been UBER conservative this year on 4th downs, but how do you punt in the first quater on 4th and 2 when your offense is humming, and then go for it on 4th and 5 when your offense is struggling? Also, you go for it on 4th and 5 on the 37 but kick the FG on 4th and goal from the 2?

Just seems like we are shaking the magic 8 ball sometimes - just follow the analytics sheet, man.

Mixon was great in pass protection yesterday

By my count he stonewalled 2 Bills that led to Burrow making great plays

Wanna say that was Mixon blocking in the deep ball to Boyd and the insane slant to Tee

  Containing CJ Stroud
Posted by: Fan_in_Kettering - 11-06-2023, 09:38 AM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (56)

Total disclosure: I’m an Ohio State alumnus and I loved CJ Stroud as a Buckeye — but now he’s a Texan and he needs to be defeated. Most Ohio State quarterbacks fail miserably in the NFL but Stroud seems to be absolutely thriving.

Let’s look at him objectively and see what Lou Anarumo will be facing this week. First of all, Stroud has thrown 14 touchdown passes to only one interception all year; that’s extremely impressive. This means he is super accurate and the Houston receivers are running great routes.

Also, Stroud holds two interesting records: Most passing attempts without an interception to start a career with 192 and the most passing yards in a game by a rookie with 470. Those are insane numbers and I think Stroud will be Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The only way I see to stop Stroud is with constant pressure generated by blitzes and stunts combined with tight coverage downfield. In no way do I consider the Texans an easy out.

  If the season ended today.

If the season ended tonight[11/05/2023] all AFC North teams would make the playoffs.

Happy, sad or pissed?

Burrow now 5-1 against the supposed rulers of the AFC

Mahomes (3-1) and Allen (2-0).

Once again big game? No problem.

Joe Cool.

  The Bengals D
Posted by: Bengalbug - 11-06-2023, 01:58 AM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (35)

Just held two top 5 scoring offenses to 17.5ppg. Their (Buff and SF) season average is 27.5.

The offense hasn’t been too bad either, against two top 5 scoring defenses. Averaging 17.25ppg, the offense scored 27.5 PPG. The offense also left 20+ points on the table.

The boys are still in last place in the division, but they are in the playoff hunt and no one wants to play them. So who gets the Bills Ball:

JOE BURROW: 348 passing yards, 2 TDs, 108.1 Passer Rating

TEE HIGGINS: 8 catches 110 Yards

DREW SAMPLE: 3 catches, 30 yards, 1 TD

GERMAINE PRATT: 11 Tackles, 1 FF

CTB: 2 tackles, 1 INT

BRAD ROBBINS: 3 punts all inside the 20

  Corey Dillon Part II
Posted by: kalibengal - 11-05-2023, 02:20 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (7)

Was watching the Washington VS USC game and the Wash RB "Dillon Johnson" was like watching a doppleganger of former Bengal Corey Dillon in every way.
Same size: about 6', 220, and from same school as Corey dillon.
and runs a 4.5 Forty +
same running style and has "Dillon" in his name.
We will need to add to RB room in future and just calling this guy out
The game he had last night reminded me the one Corey had VS Denver many yrs ago,, 250 yds etc....
