2016 and Forward: A Hypothethical |

Lets suppose for a moment that, regardless of QB situation, that we lost in the postseason to the likely Jets.
Where does the organization move from here. Does ownership do the unthinkable and fire Marvin Lewis? A lot of people may think no, but I think it will happen. Heres why.
Media around the NFL started mentioning it as the season started. This year we had the best roster since the mythical team from the 80s. It's going to be tragic to see that go to waste and a Free Agency period that is going to be devastating to the point that the team can only regress--even if slightly. Mike Brown only giving Marvin one year contracts arouses my suspicion as well. Why isn't he able to commit his unconditional love for Marvin for the long-run? If the front office though lewis was the answer, then surely he would've gotten a contract lasting longer for one year.
Also, say what you want about the guy. He has had 14 years. 14 years to win a playoff game. I think Stephen A Smith said it best when we lost to the Chargers.
But what do you guys think. If this team tragically goes one and down again, does anything change?

Quote:Fellow Bengals fans need to come off the ledge:
We’re hosting a Playoff Game regardless.
We lost by 3 in OT on the road, in Denver (literally the toughest atmosphere), to another really good team, with our QB making his 2nd start against the #1 defense.
And I’m sure everyone will point to history recently, but be real with yourselves:
2011: No business being in playoffs, were major underdog against Houston.
2012: Best defense of this era, but offense still stunk and were legit underdog on road and narrowly lost.
2013: This was the choke job, plain and simple.
2014: Mohammed Sanu, Cobi Hamilton and Greg Little flanked out wide…enough said.
This year’s team is the best team overall. The Dalton injury is horrible timing but if McCarron can nearly win last night, I give him a legit good chance against a lesser defense at home with Eifert back. Who knows, maybe Dalton comes back WC round…seems unlikely but not impossible. Win 1 game as the favorite should and watch this team make a push for Super Bowl.
Get off the ledge…at least we don’t root for Cleveland.
Feel free to claim credit for this comment on PFT. I know it made me feel better

I know we have exhausted this to no end but I heard yesterday while in Denver from a beat reporter that they fell his problem in the running game this year is getting handed the ball out of the shotgun. He thought J Hill was too indecisive and does to much tip toeing behind the line when given the ball in this formation.
I dont know if there are stats anywhere on his runs out of the shot gun vs with the QB under center but its an interesting take.
We often hear that QBs have trouble adjusting to not throwing out of the shotgun now this is the first I have heard of a running back not running as well out of it.
Thoughts?
