  Optimism for Zach Carter
Posted by: ochocincos - 08-23-2023, 12:26 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (30)

John Sheeran has written an article about how well Zach Carter is doing this preseason.
https://atozsports.com/cincinnati/bengals-defensive-tackle-zach-carter-is-on-the-verge-of-a-breakout-year-2023/

He has been at practices and seen it for his own eyes, per his Twitter (I'll never call it X).

In the article, a post from Andrew Russell lists the preseason pass rush win rates for all the Bengals DL.
Carter is at the top of the list with 17.2%.
Domenique Davis is 15.8%
Ossai 14.3%
Then a huge drop off down to under 6% for Myles Murphy, Jay Tufele, and Jeff Gunter.

Carter had also put on 20 lbs of muscle since his rookie season ended.
It appears that added muscle is not just for show, but it's helping Carter be more productive (likely along with improved technique and other things).

This article from John gives me some hope that Carter might become the heir we want at UT after Hill leaves, and if anything could provide some added juice to the interior pass rush as a rotational guy.

  Chris Collinsworth Picks Us…….

To win the Super Bowl!

That’s HUGE considering how big of a hater he is, but it was on Good Morning Football this morning!

https://youtu.be/ki1aiApki4s

I’m at the pool, so can’t post the video but it’s on my YouTube in the video above!

I’m LOVING the fact that people are taking notice that we’ll dominate with a decent offensive line!

I think he talked about how hard the division is but still picked us (I think but I can’t etch it now, so might have been the people on GMF).

WHO-DEY!

Burrow's Contract With Taxes And Other Fees......
Posted by: BFritz21 - 08-22-2023, 01:07 AM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (28)

Mods, sorry if this should be in the thread about his extension, but I thought it deserved its own thread because it's not talking about negotiations and whatever. Sorry if it takes any effort to move it (if you need to).

We talk about Burrow's contract and everybody mentions how it's going to be so much money and other people have talked about who will be the NFL's first billionaire, but I was thinking about the taxes, dues, agent's cut, insurance, and whatever else he needs to pay out of his contract.

You realize that, after state and income taxes, a player only takes home about 50% of his pay? Even if that's a low estimate (not by much, maybe off by 5% or so), and that's not even considering paying his agent, NFLPA fees, and whatever else?

Again, I'm not saying that we should feel bad for him, but I'm just saying he's probably only getting 50% of what he signs for, if that.

I know he also has endorsements and whatever, but let's just remember how big of a business the NFL is and think of it in relative terms.

This’ll make you feel better about that last drive on against ATL
Posted by: Housh - 08-21-2023, 10:41 AM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (11)

Per Locked on Bengals apparently we were down 4 corners by that time so that drive we’d usually play 1-2 linebackers but that last drive we had 4 linebackers in which explains their Poe instincts in not getting deep on those TE Seams.

Not much you can do with that
