Foster Moreau Update |

A couple weeks ago, Foster Moreau was interviewed and gave an update on his battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
He's optimistic that going through chemo treatment soon will get rid of all of the Lymphoma.
He's also returned to the Saints to complete his physical, which some may remember he was at when this was originally discovered.
Some believe he may get signed by the Saints (or possibly some other team like the Bengals?) once the deadline passes to not impact 2024 comp picks, and that team could put him on NFI list until he can return to action. Some speculate it could be possible he could return this season, which makes sense given John Metchie, who announced last Summer he was diagnosed with Leukemia and missed all last season for the Texans, is back with the team for offseason workouts already.

Is the team better now compared to last year? |

This question was posed on the Locked On Bengals podcast. Jake Liscow and Joe Goodberry were talking about it.
Now that the bulk of FA and the draft have completed, the roster is pretty much set.
The only things that might happen are some Summer trades/pickups, but those are usually very few and far between, most often involving backups.
Based on who's on the roster today, is this a better team than last year's squad?
My take:
LT is an upgrade
RT is up in the air, but it could possibly be an upgrade once we get to see Williams, Carman, and Ford out there.
CB I feel is an upgrade overall.
DL should be upgraded some, although mainly from a rotational standpoint.
Same with WR. Depth was improved.
Safety is up in the air with Bates and Bell gone, but I think it will be worse at least for the first 1-2 months. I like the potential of the safeties though.
TE is arguably a downgrade. Irv Smith is no more productive than Hurst and is less durable, and the depth didn't improve.
RB I think has more juice, but pass protection might be worse from that position.
Backup QB is maybe a push, although I've never been a Brandon Allen fan. Maybe it's a downgrade.
Since I cannot confidently say better or worse, I'll vote "not sure yet"

Chase Brown VS Joe Mixon. The starting job isn’t in jeopardy, or is it? |

The more i learn about Chase Brown the more i fear for Mixon’s football life. As a starter.
Chase and Mixon have a lot of similarities. Both can be bell cows. Both have great hands out the backfield.
Mixon is stronger but Chase is faster. Both aren’t really pass protection backs, but while we’ve given up on Mixon becoming one, Chase Brown still has a chance to add that to his game and he seems more willing to at least try and become a pass protection running back.
Will this extra effort Chase gives in pass pro win him the starting job?
At draft i would’ve said no, and Joe is the obvious starter.
But if both guys can catch, Chase is faster and gives more effort in pass pro, i don’t really see him being the backup for long. At a certain point Chase’s 4.38 speed and willingness to block will win out. If we get the same Mixon we got last year then this kid should be a starter by the end of the season.
Now I’m not saying he’s going to take most of Mixon’s snaps. This will be a 2 headed monster. I think the snaps will go 60-40. So even if Mixon does get demoted to backup, he will still play a lot. I think the carry count will be waaaay more even than it was with Mixon and Perine. The coaches are going to have a hard time not playing 4.38 speed that can catch.
As a final thought i think it’s in Mixon’s best interest if he prays to god at night that Chase Brown just doesn’t like pass blocking. If it turns out that Chase Brown is a great pass protection back, then Mixon won’t start long.

As some of you probably remember, the last fundraiser we did was in 2020...which was a 3 year extension that locked in an extremely affordable monthly average of 119.95, that includes all the perks we currently have in terms of anytime tech support, advanced security features, guaranteeing the board doesn't crash during gamedays, etc.
That extension took us through May of 2024. I have the opportunity to extend that by 1 year (through May of 2025) at the same price if I do so by the 15th of this month. I would really like to do so because the value of the current plan is just too good for what we get and the service / reliability that comes with it.
I would rather always stay ahead as much as possible - especially in terms of taking advantage of the current price for as long as it's an option, and for as long as we want to keep this thing going. Doing the additional year now guarantees us 2 more years of high quality hosting at the discounted rate
The price extending the extra year is $1,439. Any contributions toward that cost would be greatly appreciated, and I will cover any amount that is remaining. I also want to thank everyone that has so generously supported the board in past years.

Thanks,
BJ
(BTW, the board will begin it's 9th year in just a few days. Crazy how fast the time has went by! )

What Bets Do You Like For The Season? |

I'm presenting to two classes at a school in the east side on Friday, which means I'll have to go by the casino on my way to and from, so I figured I can stop in the new sportsbook and place some bets!
Here's the website to the Barstool Sportsbook in Lawrenceburg, which the odds have to be the same as the Barstool at Hard Rock in Cincinnati.
Obviously going to put a hundred on them to win the Super Bowl at +900 and a hundred to even make the Super Bowl at +500.
I'm going to put a hundred on Burrow to win MVP at +800 because, with protection, I think Burrow wins easy. Might put $200 on that.
Might do a hundred or two to win the division, but, at +110, is it even worth it to only win roughly twice what I bet? Could bet more on that because it's looking like a done deal (barring injuries).
It doesn't have Chase to win the receiving title or anything like that, so I'll probably go back in the summer, but what do you think of those bets and should I bet anything else?

Mitch Wilcox and Brandon Allen |

So far they haven't signed an UDFA QB nor picked one up in free agency. No way they are going into camp with just 2. What do you think the odds are Brandon Allen comes back but this time as QB3 not QB2?
Kind of the same scenario with Mitch Wilcox. Obviously with Smith and Sample TE #1 and #2 are already signed. It surprised me when they didn't tender Mitch Wilcox. I thought he was clearly better than Asiasi and the fact we never elevated a TE off the PS says he was clearly better than them as well. He is the one player I kept expecting to see a tweet announcing he was signed to a 1 year contract. Will we see him in camp?
