on the local radio they interviewed some Bengals today, caught Kenny Anderson and part of another person I'm not positive exactly who the other person was.
Anyway Kenny said he was not sure if he would play in NFL or just be a teacher. Said a friend pointed out that the $7500 signing bonus would equal a years teachers pay and convinced him to give NFL a try. Says he went in with a lawyer to negotiate his contract and was fine with the $17 or $18 thousand contract but really wanted a $10,000 signing bonus, said PB took out the checkbook and wrote him a check for $7500 and said that's all you get, and he said ok.
He said when asked what team he hates the most, he says he knows he is supposed to say the steelers but that's not really the case. Said they beat the steelers too much in the steelers heyday to hate them and felt it validated the Bengals somewhat even. Says one year the Bengals won in Cincy but were getting hammered in Pittsburgh when Mean Joe Green on one of his many sacks told Kenny he should stop by the steelers locker room after the game for a beer, to which Kenny said sounded pretty good to him as he laid on the ground. So after game he showered quickly and ducked into the steelers locker room to drink beer from a sauna turned cooler. Then when leaving after a few pops he realized the team had left without him to the airport. Said he was fined and had to pay for the plane ticket home lol.
The other guy interviewed said at the time most other teams did not supply alcohol for players, so he would act as bootlegger of some sort and have 7 cases of beer delivered to road games for the guys. Said Kenny Anderson ordered two six packs for the ride from stadium to the airport each time no matter if the drive was 5 minutes or 45 minutes, always 2 six packs.
Kenny also said he believes his game would translate into the new NFL without a problem. Said he was mobile, accurate, and good at reading defenses which is what todays game is, I agree with him.
Kenny also raved about Joe Burrow being the real deal as well.
Just going by memory so its not verbatim but was an entertaining interview .

You say this because the scheme Lou runs is basically don’t let shit behind you and come down to make tackles.
This scheme while not producing a lot of turnovers is just a smart D to run against these modern offenses. Our offense wasnt trash last year but it also wasn’t balanced which makes it a step under elite. If we can somehow balance the offense and add point to our per game average that same exact defensive scheme becomes godly when you are protecting leads instead of coming from behind or trying to keep pace.
I expect the defense to do way better because i expect the offense to be better. I think Iv officially settled around 14 wins and i don’t see why that’s unrealistic if our offense takes a step. No team really has the personnel to stop us AND light us up. The Chiefs, Ravens, Eagles, and maybe these new Jets should be the only teams that can match up with us well.

Cincy Jungle had a picture of Paul Brown the day the AFL awarded him the franchise.
It appears he is next to a table with several concepts helmets.
He is holding a helmet with stripes that looks similar to our current helmets.
We’re the strioed helmets conceived originally in 1967? Does anyone know?
Thanks!

1. The Bengals will defeat the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII
I realize, as one of the supreme mushes of our time, that I have an ability to make it a near certainty these teams will not reach the Super Bowl. So it was my initial plan just to put two teams I absolutely wouldn’t want to see there (say, oh, I don’t know, two random teams like the Browns and the Commanders) as my Super Bowl contenders. Alas, that wouldn’t make for a very good prediction post, and, at some point, every blind squirrel finds an acorn. The Bengals and the 49ers have, by my estimation, the two rosters that best embody the hallmark of a Super Bowl team: talent and depth at almost every position. The 49ers have enough options at the quarterback position to make sure they aren’t stuck in the title game with Christian McCaffrey in the Wildcat. Deebo Samuel believed this team was better than the Eagles last year, and, even after Philadelphia’s superb draft, I agree that the 49ers have just as strong of a roster.

Quite an interesting article in ESPN about Tyler Boyd and his will to see the Bengals win.
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/37761710/bengals-wr-tyler-boyd-beaten-chiefs-healthy
"I just want to win, and that's the biggest evolution of coming here and starting here and being where I am," Boyd said. "We are a winning franchise now and we are going to continue to win. We are getting better."
"Throughout his career, Boyd's ability to fight through injuries has been well documented. In Week 16 of the 2019 season, Boyd staggered to the line of scrimmage despite dealing with a serious cramp, a move that allowed Cincinnati to score a tying touchdown at the end of regulation. Last year, Boyd missed Week 15 because of a dislocated finger where a bone came through the skin. He returned for the rest of the team's games, including the entire postseason."
-- his comments on his being injured early in the second quarter of last year's KC game--
"Still to this day, I feel like if I would have played the whole game [last year's playoff against KC], I was the key factor," Boyd said. "We would've won the game."
"Bengals coach Zac Taylor, the team's offensive playcaller, said that losing Boyd presented a key challenge given how much Kansas City was double-teaming the team's outside receivers, Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase."
-- Boyd on his future in Cincinnati--
"Boyd has not received any indication that he will not play the final year of his current contract with the team that drafted him in 2016."
"They love me in the front [office]," Boyd said. "They respect me. I go about things the right way. I come in with a great attitude each and every day. I don't complain as much. I go out there and do my job. It's a love, family thing."

Tyler Boyd arrived at OTAs today. Boyd was the final healthy player to make his appearance this off season. And apparently his arrival kind of shocked Zac who apparently wasn't expecting him.
The only no-shows were Awuzie who of course is rehabbing from his ACL, he was here earlier though, and Jonah Williams, also rehabbing from knee surgery and of course a temper tantrum.
Its a beautiful day for them to be outside working
Jackson Carman does look to be in great shape this off season. I hope it pays off in seaseon

Not sure why Joe would come over here just for a haircut, other than Northern Kentucky is the shit, but he got a new hair style in Florence, which is literally a roll’s away from me!
It’s the next town over!
On my phone, so I’m limited in bc what I can post, but here’s the link:
https://linknky.com/business/2023/05/26/meet-the-florence-based-barber-who-cut-joe-burrows-new-hairdo/?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_LINK_nky&fbclid=IwAR24Zt95vG60BOHlDXcfheZ_8JGpddc6T9B2mtoBgP_--nyk7-T9QNXVeIg_aem_th_AdcJmkQOFH_3yoyzr9KpE8oS1zRwf-vpOopTKhHGcZDDfcqAFmWY-bJeYBOMScc4BLc
“One of the Bengals’ biggest story lines this off-season is quarterback Joe Burrow’s new hairdo.
“I needed something new, I’ve had the same haircut for a while. I decided to change it up, we will see how it goes,” Burrow said.
Burrow’s barber, Darnell Bonner, said it was all Burrow’s idea.
“I cut according to his vision,” said Bonner, who owns “Nell’s Barbershop” in Florence, Kentucky.”
There’s more in the link, but, like I said, I’m limited right now!
