I just want to start off by saying I think the world of this kid as a person and I couldn't say enough of how I truly root for the guy, with that being said I also have to acknowledge how bad he's been playing this year..
Cam is single handedly killing this defense every Sunday, his technique is bad,his confidence is gone and he's not being the physical player that he's more than capable of..cam has zero confidence in press coverage right now, because he's not using his hands to re-rout guys and he's been very susceptible to fakes, shakes and double moves..
To make matters even worse when he's playing off coverage he's killing us with his whiffs and missed tackles and easy 1st down completions given up..I would seriously consider starting josh Newton over came coming off of this 10 days of rest,I'm not giving up on cam but he needs to understand that we can't keep putting him on the field if his play is hurting the other ten men..I love cam I really do but something has to change he's becoming a liability and we can't afford to keep letting him sink the whole defense..

Probably time to rebuild |

I'm starting to think it's rebuild time. Starting with getting rid of Lou and Pitcher and only allowing Zac to stay if he gives up ANY control over play calling.
Find a DC known for fundamentals (like Tackling) and a rational scheme. We have some pieces so let's put what we have in a realistic scheme, get back to fundamentals and build off these foundations. We can keep Trey, Jenkins, McKinnley, Battle, Wilson, Pratt and Murphy. The rest needs to be rebuilt.
In the same vein find an OC with a rational scheme and play calling tendencies. Settle on a line scheme and then build to it. OBJr and Mims can function in either a zone or a power scheme. Get us under center either way and run more often to create a culture of winning up front.
Sign Chase, either trade or let Tee go. Then comes the biggest part - sit with Burrow and Chase and no matter what it takes SELL THEM on the rebuild. If it takes Tobin going away do it. If it takes expanding scouting do it. And when we draft we draft players to fit our schemes - which hopefully have been set and are more rational.
This is of course a fantasy because it requires ownership to get their heads out of their navels.

Brown and Higgins were close to being ready for last night so look for them to be ready for the Chargers
Joe Burrow had a bruised left arm. He’s sore but it won’t impact availablity. I’m sure the long weekend of rest will help.

How Do You Think The Fanbase Would React? |

This is a serious question, the front office does absolutely NOTHING this offseason to truly get better, yes they pick this guy up in the offseason on the cheap and have their usual bad drafting but no difference makers happen, no coaching changes whatsoever and the Bengals are right where they are now only a year from now...yet again.
Burrow and Chase had enough and want out and are done playing for the Bengals. Losing the two of them as a result of a ma and pa organization unwilling to be serious about winning. Would that break the backs of Bengal fans once and for all or is it just par for the course in the life of following the Bengals?

I would say not only Joe needs to speak up but Zac needs to say "screw the fine" and say something.
Th current day Chief whiner is Mahomes and he gets the calls...every time
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/joe-burrow-needs-to-emulate-tom-brady-in-one-specific-way
After Sunday’s win over the Raiders, much time was devoted to the presence of a sideline scowl on the face of Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. After Thursday night’s loss to the Ravens, and specifically while picking through the aftermath of the game on Friday’s PFT Live with Rodney Harrison, a light flickered regarding another way that Burrow needs to begin expressing his displeasure.
Put simply, Burrow needs to be more of a butthole when calls don’t go his way.
Many criticized Tom Brady for incessant whining and complaining and ultimately politicking for calls. But guess what? It worked. By wearing out the officials for failing to throw flags for fouls committed against him, they knew — even if at a subconscious level — that there would be a cost for not taking care of #Tommy.
Burrow, in contrast, is cool. Calm. Collected. He doesn’t confront the officials after bad calls. That makes it hard for him to get good calls.
It came to a head last night when he was clearly struck forcibly in the head on the fateful two-point conversion attempt. Burrow didn’t say boo about it. He never does. And that might be why he doesn’t get calls.

So the spot the Bengals are in is hard to fix for me.
Defense lacks talent at basically every level. (LB having the best position group.)
Offensive line is so-so. RB room is filled with non-NFL starters. WR's outside of Chase and Higgins likely wouldn't play on most teams. TE group is so-so.
We've whiffed in free agency on a lot of guys except maybe Orlando Brown Jr.
Trey wanted traded this past offseason. Chase contract situation is there.
Most of the guys we've drafted do not look like they'll turn into good Pros.
Coaching staff isn't developing players.
And Burrow's contract is kicking in. Chase will get a huge contract.
How do you fix this? It's not like they can just flip a switch and draft better or sign a bunch of good free agents.

Yannick Ngakoue, was inexplicably let go yesterday by the ravens to elevate Keaton Mitchell. If the bengals don’t put a waiver claim in for him, that will tell you everything you need to know about this teams desire to put the best players on the field. That said, someone lower on the priority might pick him up ahead of this team, but we should at least see a “hey he could be a good add to our pass rush”.
29 year old with 70+ career sacks, when the bengals said they were looking for DE help on Tuesday.
