running the ball, and stopping the run
Posted by: fredtoast - 11-22-2015, 01:34 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - No Replies

Bengals rank 29th in yards per carry allowed (4.7), and 22nd in yards per carry (3.9).

These numbers have to change if we are going to be a threat in the playoffs.

  AJ Blames Himself
Posted by: BFritz21 - 11-22-2015, 01:08 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (21)

I haven't seen this posted anywhere, because it took place while the boards were down, and it's kind of old news by now, but I figured it's worth mentioning.

They interview AJ post-game after the Texans game, and you can see that he's just beating the hell out of himself inside. He says that they left too many plays out on the field, but he mentions twice (without being specifically asked about it) that he needs to hang on to the ball.

He demands more out of himself and I think he comes out this week and lights it up, and it's especially awesome because most big time receivers would be being divas and pointing the finger at other people and saying how the rest of the team is to blame, but AJ puts this on himself, even though the entire team had a bad game.

I feel pretty confident that he'll come out and light-it-up tonight.

Rock On

So, will they show up and play motivated tomorrow night?

We're full circle now - another night game, another prime time game and a HUGE game. And their last prime time outing was flat and uninspired.

Last year they came off a poor prime time showing to beat Denver on Monday Night Football. Will we see a similar bounce back this time?

I'm thinking yes. Now Monday I wasn't but given some time to cool off I am hopeful they won't lay two eggs in a row.

  Bengals in London in 2016?
Posted by: QueenCitySouth - 11-21-2015, 08:25 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (22)

NFL is set to announce the 2016 International Series games in London.

Any chance the Bengals get to go across the pond as a "home" team.

  Remember 2009?
Posted by: fredtoast - 11-21-2015, 12:48 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (14)

That year the Bengals won 7 of their first 9 games despite only playing 2 teams with losing records, and one of those two losses was on a fluke tipped pass in the final seconds against the Broncos.  During that stretch we had huge road wins against the Ravens, Steelers, and NFC North Champion Packers.

However after that fast start we only won 3 more games (all at home) against the 5-11 Browns, the 2-14 Lions, and the 4-12 Chiefs, and it took a td with only 2 minutes left to eek out a win against Kansas City.

After outscoring teams by 51 points in our 7-2 start we were outscored by 47 points in our 3-5 finish.

During our 7-2 start Carson Palmer threw 14 tds, averaged 224.4 passing yards, and had an 89.5 passer rating.   In the final 8 games he threw 8 tds, averaged only 153.8 yards, and had a 73.0 rating.

Confused

Just sayin'.

Bengals have never won a road game against the Cards
Posted by: fredtoast - 11-21-2015, 11:46 AM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (3)

Bengals have only played the Cardinals 10 times since 1973 and we have an overall winning record against the (6-4).  We have never won a road game against them, but that only includes 3 games (St. Louis in '85, Phoenix in '94 and '03).

The last time we played them was actually a big game.  It was '11.  We were 8-6 and the Cards were 7-7.  Both teams were still fighting for a playoff spot.  Dalton had a 92 passer rating with 2 tds and a career high 48 rushing yards.  We built a 23-0 lead and held on to win 23-16.

That year the Cards finished 8-8 and the Bengals 9-7.  That is the only season that the Rams and Bengals have played when they both finished at least .500.

THIS IS THE STAT OF THE DAAYYYYYYY.

Some of you might get it.  Ninja

Last time the Bengals went on the road in the second half of the season and beat a team with record at least 3 games above .500.  ?

November 15th, 2009. Beat the Steelers 18-12. Both teams went into the game 6-2.

  Judging by just one game.........
Posted by: fredtoast - 11-20-2015, 02:33 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (8)

Funny that the people who are claiming the Bengals stink based on just one game are the exact same ones who claimed that we could not claim they were great based on the previous 8 wins.

So how important is one game? Is it enough to show that a team is terrible? If so is one good game enough to prove that they are great?
